Nordlaks is a family-owned aquaculture group that creates value of all the resources in the value chain, from roe to table.
With headquarters in Stokmarknes, Vesterålen, we have activities ranging from breeding at one end, to sale and marketing of premium salmon and rainbow trout products in the other.
Nordlaks will develop the company, we will contribute to the development of the aquaculture industry, and northern Norway which is our home. We are creating the future.
The driving power of Nordlaks is the region we live and work in. Nordlaks was born in Stokmarknes, and from here we have developed our family-owned aquaculture company. Today we are an integrated company with ownership in roe production, we carry our own smolt production, we have a wellboat company, post harvest processing and filet factory. We are refining by-products and does sales and marketing of our own fish. Nordlaks also operates two aquaculture exhibition and education facilities.
Total aquaculture production was 41 000 tonnes of salmon and rainbow trout in 2017. In addition we processed about 29 000 tonnes of salmon and trout for other aquaculture companies, making the total production in our facility at Børøya at 70 000 tonnes in 2017, of which 2-3000 tonnes were raw material for our filleting factory.
Aquaculture, and Nordlaks, are part of the future for Northern Norway. Therefore, we are keen to lead the way in technology development, and in all we do, to ensure that we produce food in a sustainable manner, continuing into the future. At the same time, we are part of an industry of importance for employment, settlement and the emergence of interesting and secure jobs along our coast. The 420 people working in Nordlaks also create a large number of jobs in supporting industries, at least as many as in Nordlaks directly.
Today, our activity spans across 12 municipalities in northern Nordland and southern Troms (regions). Since the founding of Nordlaks in 1989, these communities have also benefited from the growth and development of our company.
We meet the future with a strong focus on development of new aquaculture technology, primarily in the “Havfarm” project. We are confident that the key to a further and sustainable development of the aquaculture industry is to enable the use of new marine areas for aquaculture.
